Many parents warned me about the moment I recently experienced, the first major [could-have-been-prevented] injury. About a week and a half ago, Eston touched the steaming hole of the humidifier in his room. We usually wait until he's in the crib to turn it on, but we got distracted and were out of our routine. Eston cried when it happened, and we dunked his hand in cold water. It didn't seem too bad at the time, and he easily went to sleep and slept through the night. The next morning though, he woke up with a huge blister where his left pointer finger connects to his palm. He was holding it out and showing it to me, as if to say, "Mom, what is this thing on my hand?" He was very sweet about it. The pediatrician gave us some burn cream and said it will be totally healed within two weeks. Here's a picture of our injured little guy and his wrapped hand.

Ii thought of this post last night -- Silas stuck his finger into the hinge of the door right as we were closing it. Not a pretty picture!
